What this policy covers
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the BINS APP website and web application. "Similar technologies" includes browser local storage, session storage, service workers and push-notification registration tokens, all of which store information on your device in much the same way a cookie does.
This policy sits alongside the Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is handled once it reaches us. Where the two overlap, read them together.
Strictly necessary storage
These items are required for the platform to function. Without them you cannot sign in, stay signed in across pages, or complete a booking. They cannot be turned off from within the platform, although your browser can block them.
- Session token
- An encrypted authentication token stored as a cookie so requests you make are recognized as yours. A companion refresh token allows your session to continue without asking you to sign in repeatedly.
- Account data cookies
- Your account profile is encrypted and stored across a set of numbered cookies because it exceeds the size a single cookie can hold. A copy is also written to browser local storage as a fallback when cookies are unavailable. These expire seven days after they are written.
- Registration and verification flags
- Short-lived session storage entries that record where you are in sign-up and phone verification, so refreshing the page does not send you back to the start.
Functional and preference storage
These items remember choices you have made so the platform behaves predictably. Clearing them will not lock you out, but you may lose in-progress work and have to set preferences again.
- Language preference
- Records whether you chose English or Spanish, and whether you have made that choice yet, so the platform does not ask again on every visit.
- Form drafts
- Booking, registration and application forms save their in-progress values to local and session storage so a refresh, an interruption or a trip through the sign-in flow does not discard what you already entered.
- Pending request state
- While the platform is matching your request to available providers, the state of that wait is stored locally so the correct status is shown if you navigate away and return.
Push notifications
The platform uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications about orders, job alerts, swaps and messages. This requires a service worker to be registered in your browser and a push registration token to be issued for your device.
Notifications are only enabled if you grant your browser’s notification permission when asked. If you decline, no push token is created and the rest of the platform continues to work normally. When a token is issued it is associated with your account so notifications reach the right person, and it is replaced if your browser issues a new one.
You can withdraw notification permission at any time in your browser settings. Doing so stops push delivery on that device.
Third-party services
Some pages load services operated by third parties. Those providers may set their own cookies or storage under their own policies, which we do not control.
- Stripe
- Payment processing and operator payout onboarding. Stripe sets its own identifiers to process payments and detect fraud.
- Google Maps
- Address lookup, autocomplete and map display for service and job-site addresses.
- Firebase
- Delivery infrastructure for the push notifications described above.
Advertising and analytics
The platform does not currently set advertising cookies, and it does not currently load third-party analytics or ad-network tracking scripts. Nothing described in this policy is used to build advertising profiles or to sell information about you.
If advertising or analytics technologies are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated before they are enabled and the "Last updated" date above will change.
Managing your choices
You can clear or block cookies and site data through your browser settings, usually under privacy or site-permissions. You can also clear stored data for this site specifically.
Because the session token and account cookies are strictly necessary, blocking or clearing them will sign you out and may prevent you from booking a service or accessing an operator or commercial portal.
- Clear site data to remove all cookies and browser storage set by the platform.
- Withdraw notification permission in your browser to stop push notifications.
- Change your language preference at any time from the platform interface.
- Contact support to request deletion of personal information held in your account.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the platform changes. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the effective and last-updated dates above indicate when it last changed.
