For a garage or basement cleanout, flooring removal or a deck teardown, look at a 15 yard. A 20 yard is the most commonly requested size and covers most whole-home cleanouts, larger roof tear-offs and mid-size renovations. Choose a 30 or 40 yard when the debris is bulky but light, such as new construction, a full gut or a commercial cleanout. If you are between two sizes on light debris, sizing up usually costs less than running out of room; if the debris is heavy, size down and stay under the weight limit.

Pricing is set by the local provider and depends on box size, how long you keep it, your market, the type of debris, the disposal facility’s rates and the weight allowance included. Each booking includes a rental period that is shown before checkout — commonly around a week for residential projects, with longer terms available on jobsites. If the project runs long, you can request additional days from your BINS APP account instead of calling around. Extension pricing is set by the provider and disclosed in your rental terms.

Hazardous and regulated material is excluded almost everywhere: paint and solvents, oil and fuel, chemicals and pesticides, asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, tires, batteries, propane tanks and appliances that still contain refrigerants. Electronics and mattresses are restricted in some markets and accepted for a fee in others. The prohibited list for your specific booking is shown before you confirm, because it is driven by the disposal facility your provider uses.

On your own driveway or private property, usually not. If the box will sit on a street, sidewalk, alley or any public right-of-way, most cities require a permit and some require reflective markings or barricades. Requirements and who may apply vary by municipality, so check with your city or county before delivery day. HOAs may also have their own rules about placement and how long a box can stay.

A roll-off truck needs a straight, unobstructed approach — plan on roughly 60 feet of clearance to set the box down and pull it out again, plus vertical clearance free of power lines, tree limbs and low eaves. The surface should be firm and reasonably level. Move cars before the delivery window, and if the box is going on a finished driveway, ask your provider about placing boards under the rails.

Your quote includes a tonnage allowance. If the loaded box weighs more than that, the extra weight is billed per ton at the rate disclosed in your rental terms. Heavy material is the usual cause — concrete, brick, tile, dirt and roofing shingles are dense enough to max out a small box long before it looks full. If your project involves that kind of debris, book a smaller box or a dedicated heavy-debris box rather than a large one.

Yes. Requesting a swap is a normal part of longer projects and active jobsites: the provider hauls the full box and drops an empty one on the same trip. You can request a swap, an extension or a final pickup from your BINS APP account, and each swap is priced and confirmed like a new haul. Availability and timing depend on the provider’s schedule in your market.
